A specialty wine bar and shop, especially a James Beard semifinalist, might come with an air of pretension. But everything about High Street Wine Co. and its “people first” motto disarms expectations. For the many guests who discover its shady patio tucked within the historic Pearl district, it’s the space that beckons, offering both wine aficionados and happy hour crews a spot to settle in.
A decade prior, our team master planned their patio and its trellis of salvaged brewery parts, in addition to several other projects around the larger pocket park. With High Street now ready to expand into an adjacent storefront we’d previously designed, Card and Company is again at work in the familiar space.
Here we’re reshaping the linear bar into a wrap-around layout, centering the focus for the new space and enabling a larger retail area. The details that define High Street’s atmosphere—blackened steel, polished concrete, and reclaimed wood—carry on throughout. New plush lounges, private dining rooms, and dedicated space for wine education allow High Street additional ways to disarm and charm its visitors.
