norton energy drilling

Lubbock, Texas

The adaptive reuse transforms a cosmetic training center it into a contemporary workspace for an oil and gas drilling company. The design seamlessly combines industrial elements with crisp modernity, featuring a facade adorned with sucker rod trellises and refinished brick. Prior arched windows and simulated stone columns and are removed in favor of clean, regular forms. An entry porch and staff break area are topped with a curving wood canopy, providing shade in a semi-arid environment and blending landscape with interiors.

The introduction of a horizontal light well illuminates the previously isolated central event space, now an expansive glass and wood conference space. Detailed with warm wood tones, offices line the exterior and open up to pockets of native planting. All together, this renovation reflects the company’s balance of industrial operations and executive aesthetics on the north Texas plains.
