Matt Burton first knew he wanted to be an architect in kindergarten. His dad’s college roommate, a practicing architect, came for a visit and drew a building with Matt, who was hooked from that point on. Though he hails from Ohio and completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University, Matt studied for his masters at the University of Texas before he joined Lake | Flato Architects. As the technical leader of our studio, Matt’s portfolio includes higher education, libraries, and corporate shells and interiors projects that range all over Texas and Ohio. 

Matt and his wife have a son and live in Columbus, Ohio. On his frequent trips to San Antonio, Matt tries to save up time to spend in the courtyard at Southwest School of Art (Ursuline Academy), an oasis in the heart of downtown. When it’s not too far out of the way, a stop by Texadelphia is a nice addition, too.
