Linnet’s Wings

H. E. Butt Foundation
Leakey, Texas

The Linnet’s Wings campsite, located on the bank of the Frio River, hosts large groups for an immersive retreat in the nature of the Hill Country. Fulfilling the original goal of the Butt Family, this campus provides a first class camping experience.

Upon entering the compound, campers are welcomed by the Ranch House, a central hub featuring an open kitchen and dining area. This timber-framed building is designed to celebrate the natural landscape, with its porch supported by cypress columns that offer stunning views of the river. Inside, large windows in the dining room frame the iconic Circle Bluff across the river.

Six cabins line the riverbank, each equipped with bunk bends and modern restrooms to accommodate large groups. Between the welcome area and the cabins stands a pavilion, an open-air structure that serves as a gathering space for community activities. This pavilion, with its proximity to the water, maintains a strong connection to the outdoors and offers convenient access to the waterfront.

Designed as contextually appropriate, long-lasting structures, the durable materials reflect and blend with the landscape, ensuring longevity and harmony. Curating an elevated outdoors experience, the Linnet’s Wings campsite connects campers to the nature of the Hill Country.
